ITALY: DRIVING BANS DUE TO WEATHER WARNING

Due to snowfalls, there is a weather warning in some regions of Italy.

It is possible that on the basis of weather forecasts and the resulting road conditions, individual Provinces (Prefectures) may issue driving bans for vehicles weighing more than 7.5t.

For more detailed information you can contact the local police in the areas where the vehicles have to drive. Here www.prefettura.it you can find the current regulations of each Italian Prefecture.

Because of the fact that these driving bans are issued individually, there are no homogeneous prohibitions throughout Italy. The result is a "spotted" traffic prohibition area that covers only individual provinces or entire regions.

Non-compliance with these ordinances is punished according to Art. 10/12 of the Italian highway code, with the penalty of suspension of the driving licence and plating certificates for 1-4 months.
